Playing With Fire

These photos are representative of the raw material that went into making the kaleidographic images in the
"Playing With Fire" gallery.

The photos were taken with a Canon PowerShot A560 digital camera (7.1 megapixel) mounted on a tripod for maximum stability. Over a period of about two hours I took about 150 photos from which I later selected triangular slices to make up my pentakals and dodecahedrons.

The beginning.
A pile of twigs and small
branches over crumpled newspapers.
Fully engaged. A few small
branched were added.
Closer
Larger logs were added and
coals are starting to build up underneath.
Flame intensity builds. More branches and layers of
flames develop.
Contrast is formed with blackened
wood, white ash, and red and
yellow flames.
A good bed of embers is building
up underneath the burning
branches.
Oh Yeah! Wouldn't want that
bed of coals to go to waste.
